Infamy BMX “You Got That.” Video review
Sunday, January 17, 2010
Ok, so last night was the premiere for Infamy's new Video "You Got That." I picked up a copy of the video while I was there and here is a review of what I think of it. I will try not to give away too many thing while I do this, since the video just got released.
Full parts: Fran Meehan, Otto Ayala, Evan Ayala, Brendon Reith, Dan Conway
Split parts: Eric Capone, Ryan Landman, Friends section
First off lets talk about the overall look of the packaging and menus. They are very simple and clean, which works for "You Got That.” There is nothing that is too over done or "artsy." The main menu is a little slow to respond when making selections, but nothing that would cause someone to not purchase a video. The menu keeps things very simple and is laid out with Play, Chapters and Bonus options with a consistent background as the DVD case.
Upon hitting play you immediately realize that Fran Meehan has the first section. It starts out with a gnarly crash, that took Fran out for a while with a broken collarbone, or so I have been told. Never the less, Fran's section was a pleasant surprise, he showcases plenty of tricks and variations that top street riders are throwing out. Some of which I personally have never seen him thrown down, this made his part even better to watch. I would say his part reminded me of Van Homan, Brian Wizmerski, Dakota Roche, Sean Burns, Tom White and even a little Mike Aitken all rolled into one. Fran seems to love rails, tech and gaps.
Otto Ayala has the next section of the video. His section starts out with what I would call "Anger Issues." I believe Muscle Milk is to be the blame for this. Otto throws down pretty big in his section with man sized rails, gaps and wallrides accompanied by spins and a few tech variations. He shows that he is not afraid to man up when the time is right. From the verbal info given in the last clip, he is not afraid to do it twice.
Next up is a split section by Eric Capone and Ryan Landman. Most of the time spent filming this part Eric was out with a separated shoulder and since Ryan edited the video, I can understand why these two split up the part up. Even though Eric was out of commission for a while, the still throws down pretty big. Decent sized gaps, a few wallride and grind variations and a memorable yet goofy looking clip of who I would assume is Eric in the beginning. Landman really seems to hold this part down though. He is a dialed tech street rider that seems to have every grind combo you can think of, high hops to mannys with tech and big gaps. This part can provide the viewer with new outlooks on the spots they normally ride, since these two tackle the spots in different ways than the average rider would.
WOW! Evan Ayala starts the next part with a very cool hang five, plus it has one of my favorite songs of all time. Two thumb up here. Evan seems to be able to half cab anything and ride fake easier than he does going forwards. Even though the majority of his part he rides a freecoaster, he does show he can ride a cassette, as well, just as easy. His ender is definitely something I have never seen, that every person who does hang fives needs to watch.
The friends section is up next and features Pat Vail, Phil Care, Graham Cupit, Dennis Bunn, Ricky Bobby, Darryl Short, Seth Hasner, Carmine Gentile, Mike Robinson, Jessie Jay, Robbie Downard, Gannwear, Frank Daley, Ty Widdick, Justin Care, Dan Bob, Brian Histand, Tony Boots, Yock and Marty Moore. Everyone in this sections had amazing clips, but a few just really shine out. Frank Daley, gives people a new look at how to ride a BMX bike. Tony Boots, shows how rails should really be done. Yock, shows which rails should really be done. The it ends out with Marty Moore, who has a terrific ending clip.
Brendon "Bronson" Reith has the next part. Let me tell you, Holy Shit! This dude can seriously tear up the streets. Brendon, is a quiet 17 year old who obviously lets his bike riding speak for him. His section shines through this video showing that he is a big up and comer to watch in the future, who could easily fit on Animal's team right now. His bike control seems to be the best out of anyone in this video. Every line or trick he does is performed very clean and with a look of confidence and ease. If you look closely and pay attention you may notice that he is willing to lay down a big trick multiple times, just to get a decent clip. By far my favorite part in this video.
Last part goes to the infamous Dan Conway. The way Dan rides reminds me of Justin Simpson. He goes big and strong with "steeze" throughout the whole part. The one thing that I did think was a downside to his part is that there are quiet a few clips that have been featured in some of his web edits. Although, if you have not seen his web edits then this part will definitely get you pumped to go ride some street and tear shit up.
Overall, “You Got That.” is a must buy. Congrats to the Infamy guys on all their hard work. You can pick this video up from anywhere that sells Animal Bikes products or www.infamybmx.com
